Adopt a Brown Bear - Gift Details
It's not too late to help the remaining brown bears!
Often used for entertainment such as dancing, brown bears desperately need your help. Give something back to the world today with this adopt a bear gift and help the charity “Care for the Wild International” continue their fantastic work and various projects protecting wild animals that have been injured, orphaned or require continually long-term care.
Routinely ill-treated, half-starved and uncared for, all in the name of so-called entertainment, dancing bears desperately need your help! Adopting a brown bear will help contribute to the welfare of Mitsos (pictured above), a Brown Bear who has suffered from severe ill treatment as part of his use as a dancing bear.
So what exactly is brown bear dancing? The traditional training forced on bears like Mitsos is intensely vicious. These poor creatures are forced to stand on hot metal plates, which instinctively makes them stand on their hind feet and shuffle back and forth in a peculiar swaying motion, desperate to reduce the terrible pain in their feet.
Just seven years of age, Mitsos, the European brown bear pictured above, was rescued from this unbelievably awful existence in 1992. Mitsos was taken by his mother as very young cub and has been subjected to severe mouth and nose injuries. He can therefore never return to the wild. Funds raised through this adoption programme will primarily be used to care for Mitsos in a beautiful wooded five hectare sanctuary, as well as to protect bears in the wild.
