Enjoy a Newspaper History of the Baggies

West Bromwich Albion FC was formed in 1878. The club turned professional in 1885 and reached the FA Cup final in the following three seasons. The Baggies finally won the competition on their third attempt and the club went on to win more FA Cup trophies in later years. West Bromwich have won every domestic honour at least once and they claimed their first top flight title in 1920. The Baggies continued to challenge for further championships, finishing as league runners-up in 1925 and 1954. West Bromwich regularly finished in the top five during the 1950s and their football performances were so impressive, they were given the nickname “The Team of the Century" by the press. West Brom beat West Ham in the 1966 League Cup final and they reached another League Cup final in the following year. The Baggies reached the final for a third time in 1970, having enjoyed a successful run in the European Cup Winners’ Cup in the previous season. Although West Bromwich’s league form dwindled in the 1980s and 1990s, the Baggies reached the Premiership for the first time in 2002.
