Personalised Reading Football Books
Enjoy a Newspaper History of the Royals
Reading FC was originally an exhibition team and the club completed a stunning tour of Italy in 1913. The Royals thrashed AC Milan and beat defending league champions Pro Vercelli, Genoa and the Italian national side. The results in Italy strengthened Reading’s reputation in English football and the Royals joined the league at the end of the decade. The club won the Third Division title in 1986 and clinched the (new) Second Division championship in 1991. The Royals finished as runners-up of Division One in 1992, but the restructuring of the leagues to facilitate the new Premiership prevented Reading’s promotion to the top flight. The Royals reached the Premiership in style following a terrific 2005-2006 season. Reading won the Championship with a record 106 points. The club had also enjoyed a 33 match winning streak.
