Personalised Queens Park Rangers Football Books

Enjoy a Newspaper History of QPR

Queens Park Rangers FC was founded in 1882. Although the club started slowly, the team rapidly improved in the late 1950s following the appointment of Alec Stock as manager. Rangers won the League Cup in 1967 and played top flight football for the first time in 1968. QPR finished as runners-up of the First Division in 1976, missing out on the title to Liverpool by just a single point. Queens Park Rangers reached the League Cup semi-final and the European Cup quarter-final over the next few years. Although QPR was relegated in 1979, Rangers reached the FA Cup final as a Second Division side in 1982. Terry Venables was the manager of the team at the time. He led QPR to the Second Division title in 1983 and a fifth place finish in the First Division in 1984. Rangers had gone from relegation to qualification for European competition in just five years. QPR reached the League Cup final in 1986, but lost to Oxford United. This would be the last major achievement at the club for a number of years, as financial difficulties hit Queens Park Rangers in the 1990s. Investment led to more stability at the club in the new millennium and QPR has since been building towards a return to the Premier League.

Relive the glory days of the 1970s when Queens Park Rangers were pipped to the title by Liverpool in their last match of the 1976 season.
