Personalised Manchester United Football Books
Enjoy a Newspaper History of the Red Devils
Manchester United FC was founded in 1878 as Newton Heath Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway FC. The club faced financial problems in the early years, but Man United won their first title in 1908 and have since gone on to win over thirty major honours. Man U became the first English club to win the European Cup in 1968. The Red Devils won a second European cup in 1999, becoming the first English team to win the ‘treble’ of league, FA Cup and European Cup titles in the same season. Iconic manager Alex Ferguson was knighted for his services to football following this special campaign. ‘Fergie’ first joined Manchester United in 1986 and the Red Devils have won over twenty major honours under his management. Manchester United enjoyed a particularly satisfying season in 2008-2009. Man United fought for the league against bitter rivals Liverpool, but the Red Devils emerged victorious with a third consecutive title. The win meant that Man U had matched Liverpool’s proud record of eighteen top flight championships.
