Personalised Barnsley Football Books
Enjoy a Newspaper History of the Tykes
Barnsley FC was founded in 1887. The football club endured years of financial difficulty before it finally became established in the Second Division. The Tykes won the FA Cup in 1912 and continued to build towards top flight football. However, they were cruelly denied promotion in 1922 due to goal difference. After decades of mixed results, Barnsley returned to form in the 1990s, winning promotion to the Premiership in 1997. After enjoying top flight football for the first time in the club’s history, the Tykes hit top form once again in 2008 with a remarkable FA Cup campaign. Barnsley beat Liverpool and defending champions Chelsea in consecutive rounds en route to the semi-final.
