Personalised Cardiff City Football Diary
A Special Diary Gift For Fans Of The Bluebirds!
Cardiff City FC, also known as the Bluebirds, formed when Riverside FC and Riverside Albion amalgamated in 1902. After Bevan Shield fought to raise the team’s profile and profit, the name Cardiff City was finally awarded to the club in 1908 after the Bluebirds had been asked to prove that they were good enough to take the title. City were one of the best sides in Britain during the 1920s and following many years of success in Europe during the middle of the 1960s and 70s, Cardiff FC returned to the spotlight in 2008 by reaching the FA Cup Final.
With twelve fascinating match reports included, from a variety of special Bluebird moments, our Personalised Cardiff Diaries are a unique gift idea that allow recipients to organise their schedule whilst reminiscing upon some of the Welsh club’s most magical moments.
Diary Highlights
An obvious highlight of these Cardiff City Diaries is the famous FA Cup campaign of 1927 that climaxed in a 1-0 win againstArsenal in the final. A fabulous match report on the 3-0 semi-final win againstReading is included in the A5 Diary, as the press and fans began to look forward to this famous Wembley tie.
Skipping forward to the 1960s, focus turns to the domestic league and European success, as the club began a period of rebuilding after a disappointing post-war era. In 1960, Bill Jones took up the role of Cardiff FC’s manager and results soon improved. The Personalised Diary features the vital game that took place at home against League Two rival Aston Villa, which the Bluebirds would win in front of a crowd of 55,000. It was enough to guarantee promotion, but sadly Villa would go on to beat City in the race to be league champions.
Promotion was followed by an era of disappointing league form for Cardiff FC, but consistent success in the Welsh Cup meant that the Bluebirds were about to embark upon exciting times in Europe. A selection of stories from this period of success are charted in our Cardiff City Football Diary, with the Bluebells taking on and beating some strong opposition, such as Real Madrid, NAC Breda and Real Zaragoza.
