Wolverhampton Wanderers Personalised Football Calendar

A Fantastic Gift Idea For Wolves Fans!

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC formed in 1877 and would later become founder members of the Premier League. Wolves had already won two FA Cups by the start of World War One, but the club enjoyed its most successful period in the 1950s. Stan Cullis joined Wolverhampton FC as a player in his teens and went on to become captain of the side. In 1949, Cullis was appointed manager and he led the team to three First Division titles and two further FA Cups. As a result of this success, Wolves forged a reputation as one of the best football clubs in England. When they won a series of friendlies against impressive European opposition, many people - including Cullis - referred to Wolverhampton Wanderers as “Champions of the World". This played a significant part in the formation of cup competition between European clubs.

Wolves have also enjoyed success in America. In 1967, twelve British clubs were imported in their entirety to the United Soccer Association. Playing under the name 'Los Angeles Wolves', the team eventually beat the 'Washington Whips' (Aberdeen FC) to win the league championship.

Our Personalised Wolverhampton Wanderers Calendars feature a fascinating selection of match reports on some of the club's best games since the appointment of Cullis as manager. Starting from the month of your choice, these A3 Calendars are a wonderful gift for any fan of Wolverhampton FC.

Calendar Highlights

The Personalised Wolverhampton Wanderers Calendars begin with the FA Cup win of 1949. Having previously knocked both Liverpool and Manchester United out of the competition, Wolves beat Leicester City 3-1 in the final. This was the club's first major trophy in forty years and Stan Cullis became the youngest manager to win the competition on his first attempt. In 1954, Wolves created further history by winning the Division One title. Wolverhampton FC had waited sixty-six years for their first top flight championship. The moment was to be made even sweeter, as the trophy was guaranteed following a win against local rivals West Bromwich Albion.

Wolves won two further titles in the 1950s and the club also reached the latter rounds of European competition. Our A3 Calendar includes the 2-0 win against ASK Vorwaerts from the 1959/1960 European Cup run and the 5-0 thrashing of FK Austria Vienna from the 1960 European Cup Winners' Cup. Wolverhampton Wanderers also achieved success on the continent in the 1970s, reaching the final of the UEFA Cup in 1972. The Calendar Gift features two matches from this famous cup run; the 1-4 win against Academica Coimbra and the 2-1 victory against Ferencvaros.

By this stage, Stan Cullis had long since left his position as Wolves' manager. Form had declined since his departure, but the 1970s provided somewhat of a revival. Success in this decade peaked in 1974, when Wolves beat Manchester City 2-1 to win the League Cup. The Personalised Calendar also includes the 3-0 win against Sheffield United in 2003, which clinched promotion to the Premiership.
